Several weeks ago we talked about whether or not we wanted to make a troop donation
to Heifer International to buy a flock of chickens for a needy family in another country. We discussed that it would
cost each girl $2.50 and it should be money she EARNED. We talked about doing chores to earn the money and it shouldn't be
money they asked their parents for. We did NOT have a unanimous vote - so I just kind of let it drop.
However, at our Christmas party several girls brought their $2.50 including ones that had voted against it. So I guess
our quest to buy a flock of chickens is back on.
Please talk to your daughter to see if she wants to participate. I'll collect
the donations at our troop meetings until we have the $20 and then I'll write a check to Heifer International for our flock
of chickens. Again, this should be money the girls EARN.
If you or your daughter don't want to participate, it's fine. It's not a
required thing - I just thought the girls might think it was kind of a neat way to "Help Make the World a Better Place".
